World of Warcraft: Forever Is Live, Offering a Reimagined Original Azeroth to Level 60
Blizzard's new permanent version of WoW launched globally on November 4. It's included with a regular subscription and takes players back to the original continents with new stories and a new race.

World of Warcraft now has a third way to play. World of Warcraft: Forever went live globally on November 4 at 3:00 PM PT (23:00 GMT), according to Blizzard's launch announcement. Blizzard describes it as "a permanent home alongside modern and Classic WoW."
What WoW: Forever is
Unlike WoW Classic, which recreates the game as it was, Forever is a reimagined take on the original Azeroth. Blizzard's September reveal says it's set after the events of Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core.
Players return to the original continents and adventure to level 60, then keep progressing through "new stories, experiences, and updates inspired by years of player passion and feedback." Blizzard repeatedly emphasizes that in Forever, "the world takes center stage, community comes first, and the journey matters as much as the destination."
Do you need to buy it?
No. According to Blizzard, access is included with a World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time. Optional upgrade editions are sold on the Battle.net Shop:
- Skyborne Heroic Pack – includes access to the new Skyborne race and the Zephras Isle starting experience, plus early name reservation.
- Skyborne Epic Pack – a higher-tier upgrade that also included beta access.
- Warcraft Forever Collection – a limited-time bundle that also included beta access.
The beta for Epic Pack and Collection buyers began on September 17.
A home for new and returning players
Blizzard is clearly positioning Forever as an entry point. Its launch post speaks to players "stepping into World of Warcraft for the first time or finding your way back to Azeroth," and points them to an official WoW Portal Room Discord server for finding a community.
That matters because modern WoW, with more than two decades of expansions, can be intimidating, while Classic is aimed squarely at nostalgia. Forever sits between them: familiar zones and a level 60 journey, but with new content instead of a strict re-creation.
Why it matters for PC players
WoW: Forever is one of the biggest PC releases in an otherwise quiet November. For lapsed players, it's a lower-commitment way back in. For newcomers, it offers a more focused version of Azeroth without requiring you to learn twenty years of systems.
It's available now through the Battle.net launcher.
