Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 Adds Dual-Wielding, Cyberware Skins and Cross-Platform Mods

CD PROJEKT RED's Edgerunners 2 Update brings a new side quest tied to the anime sequel, a dual-wield pistol perk, hand cyberware customization and mod.io-powered mod support on PC and consoles.

Night City isn't done with V yet. CD PROJEKT RED released Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.5, called the Edgerunners 2 Update, on October 22. It arrives alongside Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, the second season of the anime, which the studio says is now available on Netflix. The full list of changes was posted a day early in the game's Steam announcement.

This isn't a cosmetic tie-in patch. Alongside anime-inspired content, 2.5 adds a new combat playstyle, a substantial customization system and the game's first built-in mod browser.

New Edgerunners content

The headline addition is Clampdown, a new side quest set before the events of Edgerunners 2. To unlock it, you need to finish The Heist and complete two gigs for Wakako, then wait for her message. The quest rewards a new five-piece gear set based on the character King. There's also a new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, with tracks from the Edgerunners series.

A second new side quest, Welcome to Paradise, sends V on a guided tour of Night City narrated by Richard Night. It unlocks after The Heist once you reach Street Cred level 15. Collectors also get 12 new Minor Arcana tarot cards tied to an extension of the Fool on the Hill quest.

Dual pistols and custom chrome

For combat, the new Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree, with four supporting perks, lets you dual-wield Pistols and Revolvers from the Power category.

Your arm cyberware can now be restyled, too. If you equip Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire or the Projectile Launch System, you can visit one of five Glamdocs – marked on the map with a spray-paint icon – to apply skins with customizable colors. Each Glamdoc has its own shop, intro scene and catalog.

Fashion gets attention as well: five new outfit sets arrive at clothing vendors around the city, some NPC-only hairstyles are now available for V, and Photo Mode adds Cyberpunk Trading Card Game frames and new dual-wielding poses.

Mod support across platforms

For PC players, one of the most interesting changes is cross-platform mod support powered by mod.io. CD PROJEKT RED calls it "a first step into cross-platform modding": you can browse and install a selection of player-made mods directly from the in-game menu, with more becoming available over time. The feature works on PC, Mac, PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S.

It doesn't replace the traditional PC modding scene, which has thrived around Cyberpunk 2077 for years. But it makes curated mods much easier to try without manual installs.

Quality-of-life fixes

Smaller changes may matter just as much to long-time players. Saves in the Load Game menu are now grouped by playthrough, and apartment and vehicle stashes get item filters.

Why it matters

Update 2.5 shows CD PROJEKT RED is still investing in Cyberpunk 2077 years after launch, and the dual-wield perk and cyberware skins give returning players new reasons to start another run. If you haven't played since Phantom Liberty, this is a good moment to come back – especially if you plan to try mods without leaving the game.
